This wave of testing is now closed.

Initial testing started April 5th and we are already looking to increase our testing pool. If you would like to participate, please send an e-mail to testing@eqclassic.org with the following information:

eqgame.exe

The eqgame.exe file is typically located in C:/Program Files (x86)/Sony/EverQuest Trilogy. Please use the following program to generate an MD5 checksum: http://www.eqclassic.org/files/MD5.exe. You will be notified if your checksum does not match the correct client software: http://www.eqclassic.org/faq.php#client_1

Please limit areas of expertise to game mechanics; we are not concerned with content (NPCs) at this time. For example, "I played an end-game warrior for X years and I know everything there is to know about NPC positioning, balancing push and mitigation," is acceptable, while, "I spent X hours in Lower Guk and I know the drop tables of every named NPC," will be ignored.

The focus of testing is on game mechanics and not database content. It is difficult for many to understand the role a database plays, so--to eliminate any confusion--we have created original content. The only intellectual property (NPCs, items, quests, etc.) a tester will be interacting with is our own.

The client software uses libraries and techniques that are ~15 years old, which conflict with a number of today's software solutions. If you do not have experience modifying startup programs (msconfig.exe) and services (services.msc) in Windows, please do not apply for testing at this time.

theres a bunch on amazon to buy pretty cheap, and other alternative methods, but those guys hang out by the bay

Quick question: is faction a testable component?

My goal will be to test out bards exhaustively since they have the potential to be the buggiest ones around. I also would like to test faction. I can use http://therunes.net/ and count how many times I kill mobs =)

Yeah, same here. I played a wizard pretty much exclusively for about 5 years but I have no idea what I would be able to contribute. Hah i dont even know what would be looked at in terms of a wiz. Ive had my copy of Trilogy ready to go since before these new forums were created though, so im good to go on that end

Glad to see it is getting closer and closer. Great jobs guys! Im ready for more of a database/bug/beta testing I guess but would be willing to help in anyway possible, just dont think theres anything I would be able to remember for this phase.

This is very exciting!

I got the game for my Birthday (Apr 19) in 1999 ! I'm really excited to see this level of progress =)

Sadly, I don't consider myself as possessing any level of expertise and I'm currently running on a Mac so I think thats a double negative against me =)

Im sorry to say, but this is a "closed Alpha/Auditor-Test". So they won't be any Images, Videos or Datas yet. Im sure, their will be alot of Medias, as soon we hit a higher Stage of Testing. Just be a little more patient (or just sign the fork up for testing, Dude, hrhr) :-)
