Does anyone remember this game? It came out in 2001 for the N64. Back then it vaguely reminded me of EQ. Actually, that was probably the only reason I kept at it, since the game really wasn't all that great. But it had a huge 3D world with lots of different environments (towns, castles, snowy mountains, swamps, deserts, etc.) so there was plenty of exploration to do. There was some amount of crafting, making armor or potions, usually from the "loot" from defeated enemies. You had to chose who would be in your party, and characters had varied class types, skills and even different schools of magic. Also, the game had a fairly unforgiving difficulty level. Lots of saving and reloading. I guess those are all fairly standard RPG elements, but this game was just EQish enough that I would often play during server down times or any other reason I couldn't get the real thing.

I played the game a lot; was definitely very difficult with permanent death for your characters and all of that.

Funny story. I just recently discovored this game while looking for N64 games I may have missed out on in mt childhood since I just recently acquired an N64 with Mario Kart and SSB I thought my son might enjoy.

Anyway, I was googling this game after I discovered it thinking "Wow this is pretty EQ reminiscent in some ways, I wonder if anyone has had the same impression" which brought me right back here lol.

Cheers.
