I did the quest with my Erudite SK. As most people are aware, the biggest deal for doing the quest as a non-Iksar is faction. If I remember correctly, the faction you needed was Legion of Cabilis.
What I did for Legion of Cabilis faction: There's a bandit camp in Warsliks Wood, where the iksar bandits are only around level 10-20, but will attack anyone on sight, regardless of level. For about a week or 3, every night when I was ready to quit, I would run over there, and park myself in the middle of the camp with my pet up, and let him squash all those pesky little bandits, which got my faction up high enough to do the quest.

Does anyone plan on doin Greenmist as a non-Iksar? If so, do you know of any other good ways to do the faction? Or were there other factions needed that I've forgotten about? Anyone already done it, and have a good story about what I thought was an awesomely fun quest?

Giving 4 bone chips to Trooper Mozo in Field of Bone is a popular way too. Raises faction with:
Legion of Cabilis
Cabilis Residents
Scaled Mystics
Crusaders of Greenmist
Swift Tails

You need to get your Legion faction to non-kos first though.

Can't you get Legion of Cabalis faction in Sebilis? Or was that a later addition?

I used bone chips, killing bandits, and killing the explorers in LOIO. I also used an iksar illusion pot.

Unfortunately, i think the most difficult part of this quest in classic will be obtaining Drusella's mirror.

the mirror can be MQd and I beleive if you prepare ahead of time, you can actually complete 2 from 1 mirror, 1 from the first time u hand it in, and another the second time u hand it in.

Wasn't greenmist quest completed in luclin? =x My memory is hazy on it, but i'm pretty sure it was not finishable until luclin -- and the weapon had shissar bane to boot =P

I believe you're right on this one. The SK khukri quests were available up to, but not including, Greenmist from day one of Kunark. Greenmist was only added after SoL came out.

As for Drusella's Mirror, I had mine MQ'd for my Greenmist, so it is certainly possible.

Well that would be a real bummer, as it was an awesome quest, with an excellent, but not overpowered reward, especially considering some of the knight usable 1 handers in ToV. Let's hope they implement the quest, and just take off that useless shissar bane damage. ;)

Well, if that is the case, I am sure many of us will be busy for years anyhow trying to get our epic! As much of an accomplishment it was obtaining my Cabilis factions and working for years to obtain the Greenmist, I am sure we will have a ton of fun doing other things : P

That graphic was so cool though :(

The only information I can find in patch notes before or after the release of Luclin (Dec 4, 2001) is the patch note on June 27, 2001 3:00 am talking about "- The Iksar Shaman 6th Skull/cudgel quest should be working now. "

This is the only mention of any Iksar quest which may provide a clue as to the first greenmist in the game. This of course refers to the Shaman equivilent of the SK Greenmist quest for Iksars.

There are posts on allakhazam dating back to November 2001(before Luclin) concerning the Greenmist. When the picture was submitted, there were some questions on the boards suggesting folks were unaware of where "Shissar" mobs could be found. This would suggest that it was introduced before the release of Luclin.

Any ideas?

The Greenmist quest was completed by Dignitas from Moon Whisper Guild on Solusek Ro Server on 11-5-01 a month before the release of Luclin.

Using the internet wayback machine, the greenmist was in the game according to the last allakhazam update before luclin came out.
However, it was listed as only usable by Iksar.

That sounds familiar... I seem to recall seeing shissar bane damage and thinking "wtf is a shissar?"

Well, considering that easy to attain weapons like Sledge of Smashing were avialable (and much better than greenmist) in velious era, really no reason for it to not be in.

Now remember how many people actually had it, how often raid bosses were up and how many people were needed for the kill. There's a huge competition per boss, and another one getting the drop, yes that is a better weapon but the likelihood of getting it is slight. Greenmist is a build up weapon, and if you remember from EQ that's what the majority of level 60 was doing, building up tier by tier, if you got 60 and immediately were decked, you were irrelevant towards your raid's success.

EDIT: And most people's Velious raiding experience was after Luclin came out, building your gear inside of Velious is a game in itself. And first timer guilds need everyone at atleast 85% effective gear.

And the first posted down on Allakhazam was September 21st, 2001, and who knows when they're going to release the finished Greenmist quest. Could be when Velious comes so they don't have to go through every patch changing the slight variables every 2 weeks, or maybe with Kunark.

Razor you bring up an excellent point. Sure it may have been in the game, but it is definatly one of those items and quest lines we should not expect to see at Kunark's release.
