I was trying to remember/figure out all the items that are good to have your bags the entire game on most characters. What I mean by this is, say you get an NToV weapon, but you have an avatar weapon, to maximize DPS you would still use your avatar weapon, once it procs, switch back to the main weapon or throw on a fungi tunic during downtime to save the healers mana / use it in an emergency, etc.

Fungus Scaled Covered Tunic - Fungal Regrowth

Amulet of Necropotence - Illusion Skeleton

Eyepatch of Plunder - Spell Haste (for when there is no ENC/SHM around and it stacks with bard song/epic haste)

Primal Weapon(s) - Avatar

Manastone - Mana Conversion in Old World [Before it was Nerfed]

Guise of the Deceiver - Illusion Dark Elf [Pre-Nerf]

Specifically for SK:
Soul Defiler - Call of Bones (Mana Regen that drains HP / Illusion Skeleton)

[Pre-Nerf (preferably)] Circlet of Shadows - Gather Shadows

Incardanine Breastplate - Gather Shadows (if necessary)

Regal Band of the Bethezid for clicky DS
dain ring 10 for clicky DS
fiery vambraces for clicky DS (does not stack with regal band, but does not have charges--great for groups, regal band was more for difficult things)
Pegasus cloak for levitation
Holgresh Elder Beads for scouting if necc. (Personally enjoyed them just as a toy /grin--but they were a very useful pulling tool when they could draw aggro :P)
Pumice...if you can count that...for dispel :P

I'm sure there's more "nice" things to have, but these just seemed more useful support items that you might be looking for =P

SKs do get breath of the dead at level 49, but *everyone* should have item EB available. Probably means a fishbone earring in vanilla, and a knotted turtlebone ring or a lodi shield in Velious. Maybe one of the Lord Fishy (Koi'Dokken?) EB items from NToV at the high end.

Also, barring a pre-nerf CoS, a few 10 plat cloudy potions (instant invis, for when you need to stand up from FD and click it right on - I *think* they're classic).

As an SK, you'll also need some way to gate. The OT hammer is great to have, but you'll also want at least one of the OMFGexpensive vendor-bought or shaman-made gate potions for when anything you might try to melee would just kill you. In Velious, the vial of velium vapors is a cheap, if time-consuming, alternative.

Weren't those insta invis potions only bought in PoK (and lore?).

I could be wrong, I know the insta gate pots were only bought there and lore as well.

The cloudy potions were definitely not lore, and definitely in classic. They were made by shamans via alchemy. I'm not sure how early in classic they were (probably not in at release?). They may have been added in the first major alchemy revamp in Feb 2000 mentioned here: http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20000217a.html

I'm not as certain about the gate potions, but I always remembered people using them, and I'm pretty sure it was before Luclin. You could definitely get them in more places than just PoK - they were initially craftable by shamans.

Eh, reading the comments through that cloudy potion link to Allakhazam just reinforced my belief that they weren't made with alchemy, heh. Several people were saying that shaman had no invis potion recipe until LDoN. I'll scope it out and see if I can find a concrete date when they were introduced.

Interesting - the fact that 5 and 10 dose cloudy potions are listed on Allakhazam's suggests that they were, in fact, craftable via alchemy at some point.

The single charge, instant-cast cloudy potions I'm speaking of were not lore and were certainly available from vendors well before Kunark, and probably from release. They were sold by the same vendors who sold pumice stones, harvest crystals, chipped bone rods (also available from the first floor SK in befallen), crimson potions, and yes, very expensive gate potions, among other things. These vendors existed in the potions/magic shops of most old world cities, not just in PoK much later. They're marked on the old EQAtlas maps as "Potions and Crystals" vendors.

Just because 10 dose cloudy potions exist on Allakhazam doesn't necessarily mean they ever existed in-game. In fact, a quick 2-3 minute search on Google shows numerous links explaining that they're in lucy/allakhazam/magelo but not actually craftable in-game. 10 dose potions were made by combining 10 single dose potions into an alchemy bag and combining for one 10 dose potion, and combining 10 cloudy potions apparently does not work.

Hummm, my buddy played a shaman and I could have sworn he used to make invis potions with alchemy. Maybe I'm thinking of something else though. I've never played a shaman, so I can't say for sure. However - the comments on the cloudy potions do date back to 2001, so they're definitely obtainable (via merchant apparently) in classic.

They have an alchemy thread in the Shaman board

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1033

Might find some answers about all this potion stuff there.

Common sense? We don't use that here, sorry!

Just kidding, perhaps older shaman will know, good thinking
