What race enchanter do you intend on playing?

I'm thinking High Elf. I really want to have that stereotypical elf magicker. I've always used Erudites, Iksar (for necro), and Dark Elves up until this point.

Gnome obviously. But once I get the Halfling enchantment never again will I see a gnome on my screen (unless I die). Damn tew-talls are boring to play.

Dark elf because I did originally. But also because I'd like to be Agnostic this time rather, than Innoruuk lol I felt like a nub for being one of the few who wasn't.

I played HE last time, and was thinking of DE. I remember reading that choosing a religion [God] was the worst thing a 'Chanter could do, because NPCs would recognise your religion - even though invis i.e. couldn't talk to a NPC invis, if that NPC was hostile to your religion.

I voted DE, but may choose Human because everyone will choose DE / HE, I'm not an Erudite fan and aside from Erud's Island, not keen on that side of the world (perhaps that's a good reason to choose 'Erudite' as it is totally unfamiliar - hmmm ... decisions), and there is NO way - I mean, NONE - I would ever choose Gnome. So that leaves Human - and I have a hankering for FP after all these years.

Changed vote to Human from DE. I can hear FP whispering my name ... Plus, I like the Human female character model - even though I'm now going to switch Human Female SK upon EQC release.

Post-script: my resolve has wilted. I think I'm going to roll DE Chanter, worshipping Cazic-Thule.

It is NOT an easy class to play! Therefore, either the people that just "don't get the class" are going to go groupless, or they will reroll. Either way should keep plenty of spots open for players that know how to play the class, Phinny.

A lot of people voting might be thinking of Alts. I for one don't intend to play enchanter as a main.

My class (bard) has a similar predicament though, a lot of people want to play it this time around. So i know how you feel

Definately dark elf again...I tried lots of classes in classic...but the enchanter just really clicked with me. You have to really love the class because you tend to have some really important jobs...and you have to be good at it.

And a crap-load of spells to manage.

You know... people are saying that race doesnt matter for end game, but we're gonna be playing in a time where capping your stats is REALLY tough.

For best stats on chanter, high elves are hands down the best chanters. They have the best int, and very good cha to go with it.

I chose Gnome because gnomes are awesome at every caster class IMO!!

In the long run I'm going to say High Elves have an advantage with INT + CHA.

For everything other than warrior and cleric, I will be gnome

Humans had the highest STA for enchanters. I think that is pretty much across the board for all INT casters actually with the possible exception of iksar necromancers.

I was a High Elf chanter of Tunare, so you weren't the only one to not go Agnostic.

Though I think this time I'll probably go Erudite and Agnostic.

there is really no reason not to go erudite and just illusion whatever you feel like

Plus, Illusion only goes so far. IIRC, it improves faction, but does not, by itself, give you the same faction that a true character of that race would have. For that you often need a combination of Illusion, Alliance, and some faction work.

I like the CHA boost that high-elves get. And I like the lore of the Dark Elves. And I've never played a Gnome. I guess I still haven't decided.

It does give you the same faction as a player of the same race, Malrubius, but it doesn't change your religion: a high elf enchanter who worships Tunare is still going to have some trouble in Neriak with DE illusion up, but an agnostic one will do just as well as an agnostic DE enchanter (though a DE enchanter who worships Innoruuk will have better faction than either with some NPCs).

So, if you're agnostic, you're fine everywhere with the relevant illusion except for Cabilis (all iksar worship CT, and you'll still be KoS as an agnostic snake-person!)
