I remember a time when I was organizing a PUG raid to Plane of Growth because none of the better guilds were doing POG anymore and were doing Kael and SS, but the PoG armor was really cool looking for my rogue, so I tried to get in on as many raids as I could.

Anyway, so after organizing, putting groups together, and pretty much figured this would be a walk in the park...The off tanks were absolutely abysmal at actually off tanking, and I think we did a pull that was a bit too big, but we were handling it, and then the Protectors of Growth showed up. Wiped hard on that, but that wasn't the worst part.

The worst part was trying to break back in and fend off the PoGs because for some reason we could not find a bard to kite them at all. Cue a frustrating 4-6 hour CR to get everyone rezzed and ported out. Never led a multiple group excursion after that.

Now I know there are way worse stories, so I wanna hear them. What's the most brutal raid wipe out you were ever unfortunately part of?

plane of fear wipe for about 5 hours, finally had to go to sleep. came home from school the next day, luckily got some help from the uberest guild on the server. what a nightmare. im sure there are plenty of other plane of fear horror stories that will sound similar to this.

Plane of Fear.

For some reason two groups of idiots from my guild decided to break into Fear on their own.

When more of the guild logged on, we took 2 more groups, plus the wiped 2 groups and tried to rescue them.

We now had four groups of naked people.

Finally a full 30 or so geared people from our guild and other guilds helped and we all got our corpses back.

The whole affair took like 6 - 8 hours, and most of the first group lost 1 or 2 levels.

Velk lab with my guild raiding lord ndjlkjsdffhdlfhj in early velious.
It was our first visit in velk lab (playing on VZ in darkside, Velklab was possesed by ligth side team)

3 attemps on lord .... 3 wipes then zone crash we stated CR then server crash ( it was 4 am) log out for everyone . The next day :call GM for corpse summon (at this time the summon corpse by necro was horribly expensive) wait 2 hours for GM to come wait 30 min to get corpse, loot and full XP rez cause of the server crash

But i guess Fear will have its fair amount of badass CR

My worst wipe was breaking into the plane of hate, we wiped twice because of "through-the-wall" aggro. We get through to Maestro and kill him and then wipe on Innoruuk. However on reentry, we somehow got 15+ mobs trained into the room and that is the last thing I saw before MY POWER GOES OUT. I stay up for 5 hours before it comes back on (like 2-3am now). Find out they gave up on the raid but my corpse is the only one still up there! Finally got a group of 5 from my guild (from a raid force of over 6 groups and several guilds) to make the suicide run to get my corpse but we managed to get out without a scratch! I even have a screenshot of me naked in the nexus (post SoL sadly) with my guildmates looking for more to help me. Shows how much people were willing to risk their asses and time to help others in the game some times!

dialogue from screenie:
Tan~~ tells allyhate "Fin and I and Adv~~ are heading up to rez Lum... anyone want to join us?"
Maly~~ tells allyhate "do you need more help?"
Ad~~ tells allyhate "she means we are going on a suicide run anyone want to die with us?"
Tan~~ tells allyhate "Dunno.. Fin's the expert.. was my first trip"
Maly~~ tells allyhate "not particularly but I will go if it will be on any help *sigh*"

Plane of Hate wipes and fear wipes were equally horrible, with the exception that with hate if you broke in and wiped to mass wall aggro and runners you were almost assured of a horrible night. With fear as long as you had an incredible bard you could usually haul ass naked to the safe spot in the NW and rez up without too much trouble.

In my experience the only wipe that really pained me was in uqua(NOT CLASSIC) we were well on our way to beating the horrific encounter (pre oow) which was not very fun and very hard! Anyways we wiped because a paladin felt breaking mez was a good idea when the mezing enchanter was wielding the rapeface pet. We ended up wiping and that final failure on the encounter lead to the guild crumbling, many quit to play WoW and in general was the worst wipe I can think of.. as it had guild-drama related ramifications.

My dad was once in a guild raid camping Khelkar Icepaw in Velks, trying to get the Lute of the Howler for his Bard, at the Upper Dogs area (I, myself, never got much past the entrance to Velks, soloing spiders and Velium gargoyle thingys around the bottom of the ramp). One of the other Bards in the group, at one point and presumably by accident, started to sing his AE Fear song.
Much corpse-retrieving and rezzing followed ;).

Im pretty sure it was velks, it was an indoor zone with snow spectres, and a necro feared one and BAM TRAIINNN, wipe. That was the most memorable, but not the worst.

Sounds like Tower of Frozen Shadow with the snow spectres.

Plane of Fear, back in the day when corpses were on a short rot timer. I think it was 12 hours or something. Anyways, spent 6 hours online waiting for a rez without any luck. Eventually I started to get worried that I'd lose all my gear if I waited online, since the timer didn't tick down when you were offline (or at least that was my understanding). So I'd log in every 15 minutes to check and see if we were close to getting a rez. Eventually it was way past bed time, so I brought my alarm clock by the computer and slept during every 15 minute interval. Got a rez finally when the resident uber guild decided to go epic weapon farming and cleared the zone... they didn't really care about helping us, that was just a by-product. It was something like 4am and I had to work in 4 hours. Fun stuff lol.

Can't think of one off the top of my head, but the ones that I always imagine were the worst were the Kedge Keep wipes. Not only are you now naked, but your body is underwater, and has probably sunk to the bottom...

Must have been around PoP era and I had never fought naggy, as I was never high level during classic era, so I saw a pick up raid forming to take down the 'great' red dragon so I joined it, we started the raid with nearly 40 people roughly 45-52, keep in mind this was probably about a year after Tecknoe Destructo soloed him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=godpodw6ylA), anyhow we made it to him without much event, we attacked the tank dropped like nothing, I had no idea how that was possible, after tank and maybe a few others dropped I got agro as a 51 monk I thought I was doomed as fast as that tank had dropped, but the druid in my group kept me alive for longer than that warrior lasted, anyhow, low resists and fear I walked away, naggy dropped me from top of list druid went down, full, hard and fast wipe commenced, by the time fear had worn off my group was down so I fd'd and waited to drag some corpses, there was never a retry.
Not a raid wipe, but my most memorable CR involved trying to complete the shackle of steel quest after they had revamped Droga (little did I know at the time that when they upped the zone they moved the quest NPC out into FM) I ran into the bottom with a couple of invis potions and a prayer, made it to the room on the map were my npc was supposed to be standing and nothing, I read more about it and everyone said he spawned in this room was almost always up, so I fd'd and /q and logged into another character for a while, checked back a few times, still nothing, then I finally see a scrap telling me that he has moved to FM and as soon as a try to make my way out it goes bad, new see invis herbalist or something like that rooted me, game over, ended up having to pay something like 500p (poor level 40 something at the time, was everything I had) to get a necro to run to fm and summon me, oh well, live and learn.

Wow, 500pp to summon a corpse? Ouch...I wouldn't have charged more than the cost of the coffin (either around 75pp or about 135pp depending on whether I had the higher-level or lower-level version of the spell at that time).

PoFear, horrid wipe, was leaving the next morning for 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Ended up retreiving it after about 8 hours, with about 1 hour to spare before I had to catch a plane trip with my mom and dad (I was probably about 9 or 10 at the time)

Plane of Growth.....
I was in a feeder guild for a decent raid guild, we decided one night to take a shot at PoG on our own. So we zone in, and end up aggroing a huge group of mobs + protectors, and died. So after trying for several hours to kite mobs away and get people ressed, we finally called in some help from the "father" guild. We got two groups of them, plus quite a few of the original group who had back-up gear in the bank for these occasions. Went in, and immediately aggroed 3-4 groups, somehow, and wiped again. So now, the original people have 5+ corpses in there, a good deal of them with two sets of gear on corpses. Finally we had 4 more full groups show up, combined with the naked folks, we finally broke in and got everyone ressed and ported out.

The whole ordeal took over 6 hours.

Fear by far had the worst wipes. I don't know how many times someone brought their agro to the safe wall.

My worst was in the Halls of Testing in TOV. We were fighting that named dragon in there and had 2 named repops right next to him and cleaned us up pretty good. I don't know what happened but for some reason I never got my corpse and spent the entire next day trying to find a necro to come and summon my corpse. Ridiculous.

Carrying a stinking coffin, NAKED, across cobalt scar and western wastes is pretty much the worst.

My first trip into Castle Mistmoore and I bound on the Mistmoore side of the zone. Playing the Enchanter (yes, the as in "THE"). I go AFK for a smoke, shot, whatever. I didn't know that Mistmoore had HORRIBLE trains to the zone and that there was only one way out of the zone so that all trains would come through my AFK Chanter. Died. Popped back up into the same pack of Ghouls that killed me the first time. Died. This went on until I came back from AFK. Guild leader paid to have me rezzed ("THE", remember?) so I didn't lose that much XP but I was plenty embarrassed for such a nQQb mistake.

My worst wipe was Naggy. Getting the Burnt and Frost Books sucked. Naggy consistently destroyed almost every raid I was in for a while. One in particular was so bad, he ate us in about 2 minutes. I was quite literally the ONLY person that didn't die.

I don't know how. I'm just glad the leader told us to try to camp. >.>
