wow awesome, did not realize I was even a contender. Thanks!

Anyone suggest a book for a toddler? He has all the normal ones like Seuss and Shel Silverstein, his favorites (lately) I'm Going to Be the Best Superhero Ever!, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, and Fox in Socks.. What was a favorite for you guys?

I don't have a toddler yet, so I can't give you one.

For an infant age, I read my daughter 3 books every night before bed.

The Curious Sea Horse (it's an old window book)
Image
Brown Bear What Do You See? (This is a book we got while in Japan. It's written in both Japanese and English)
Image
Goodnight Moon - This is the big closer every night. After finishing this one, I hand the book to her and she'll flip to a random page, so I'll read that page to her. She enjoys it.

Then she goes right to bed.

Nice, out of all the classics he does have; surprisingly enough we forgot about Goodnight Moon. I will definitely have to toss it on the list.

haha, he would possibly enjoy the prima guide. Already enjoys taking and playing with all my game manuals, especially anything with dragons or epic looking stuffs.

Congrats. :)

Can't really offer any book suggestions though, as I'm not up to date with children's literature.

I work in a bookshop so I could name plenty of kids' books...but it's entirely possible that they won't be available on your side of the Atlantic since the same seems to be true over here quite often (I get customers asking for books by American authors I've never heard of and which we don't stock).

That's where Amazon comes into play.

What are some of the children's classics in you're neck of the woods? Will see if I can track them down, always interested in stuff like that.

Well, if you're after picture books for very young kids (ie not yet into "proper" books), I can list some popular authors...

Julia Donaldson - "The Gruffalo" is probably her best-known book but she has a load more. I hadn't heard of her till I started working at the bookshop, but she's been going about twenty years now (some of her books have "20th anniversary" special versions now).
Eric Carle - As well as the "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" book mentioend above, he wrote (and as far as I'm aware, is best-known for) "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" - I remember this from when I was a kid and it's still popular today.
Allan Ahlberg - Wrote such classics as "Each Peach Pear Plum" (to which I still remember all the words :D), "Funnybones", "Peepo" and others.
Katherine Kerr - Wrote a popular book called "The Tiger Who Came to Tea", as well as a whole series of books about a cat called Mog. Not sure how old these are as I don't remember them from when I was a kid.

You mentioned dragon books being of interest - I know of one called "George and the Dragon" which I read while I was at work - it's about a mouse called George who lives in a cave beneath a castle which gets terrorised by a dragon at the same time that George finds he has no sugar for his tea so heads up to the castle to borrow some. I found it quite cute ;).

I didn't really read many picture books when I was a kid - in my own head, I can't really recall anything between flashcards and Enid Blyton. Once you start needing titles for more advanced books, I can give you a whole pile of Fantasy-related ones (it's basically the genre I've been reading since forever :D), including a few taht revolve around dragons in some way :).
