So what you're saying is this is basically the eAthena of EverQuest? I was really hoping there would be a server hosted by the EQC team so that I'd be sure there was no corrupt GMs and correct rates for leveling and all that. Just going to have to wait and see I suppose. :P

My take on the whole server hosting issue... if you build it they will come. If the code runs great and does it all then once it is released into the wild a "best of class" will rise up and make a good server for us. If not we can just build our own and kite dragons until we get tired :).

To say you will have a server is to raise your profile to an unacceptable degree at this stage of development. What happens happens and if you have been rolling with things as long as many of us have you just have to hope. There are definitely ways to "get your fix" out there but this project has some unique attributes that will be great "when" we have them running on a reputable server. One step at a time and this is the "one giant leap" step of getting good code running.

Just a side note... think about how nice it will be to know that the code base is so different that all of the "cheater" programs that plague other emus won't work on it....

One post complaining was enough...

Don't need you spamming every thread with complaints now.

Hi all!

I have been roaming around life for the last 7 years trying to find meaning and purpose since I quit playing EQ back in 2004. Over the past 12 months I have finally been able to pinpoint what I was missing in MMOs and it all comes down to EQ's glory days.

So I began scrolling through thread after thread of google searches for anything and everything that is EQ vanilla/classic related. Most of the current active EQ classic servers appear to have been going running for a couple of years now and are highend heavy with the population base and/or relatively quick progression servers into the content that made me quit the game in the first place.

Now that I have stumbled across this community, am I seeing what I think that I am seeing? An EQ classic server community that has yet to launch and may in the near possible future? If so I am going to go work overtime for the next X amount of months so I can stockpile cash and retire on the day this is projected to release.

Please tell me this is what I think it is....

Yep :D It is exactly what you think it is, and probably more!

The goal of this project is to recreate the classic EQ experience as accurately as possible with a real classic version of the client. It's been a work in progress for years, but now with Yeahlight at the helm it looks like it will become a reality in the not too distant future. It is being done right without compromises. Everything that made classic great will be in.

Yeahlight's leadership is really top notch for a community project like this, and he, along with Harakiri, have been making awesome progress in the past few weeks (check out the "Revision log" section). From what I've seen they are both very dedicated and have a full understanding of what made classic EQ the best MMO to date. Read through the forums and see for yourself! Make sure to read the announcement posts.

And welcome to the boards :)

Hey Grimbull, welcome to the forum and all that :). Join us as we all crowd together in our eager anticipation of the forthcoming EQC, wherein we can all finally play EQ as it used to be before it became...well, what it is now.

I'm all for moderation of annoying posts that don't contribute to the topic at hand or the project as a whole. Give it a rest, mate. Nobody cares about what you have to say.

I'm quite shocked actually at the sheer amount of patience they have with you. Its surprising how you have not been banned from these boards outright. You seem to be an open spicket of negativity. You're a troll, we get it. It's time to move on, yes?

Ignore him and he'll go away.

Just stop responding to him. We're watching the situation, no worries. ;)

Hahaha... that's brilliant. I would have no moral dilemma in using those ban techniques against problem children, were I running a non-government-funded message board.
